Korean Cupping Therapy

The suction created by the cups can reach deep into your tissues, encouraging the release of potentially harmful toxins. This action stimulates the lymphatic system, promotes the clearance of blood vessels, and gently stretches and enlivens the skin.

What is Korean Cupping?

Korean Cupping therapy utilizes glass or plastic cups to generate localized pressure through vacuum suction. The therapeutic effect of this treatment lies in the detoxification process it facilitates within your body. The cups’ suction can reach deep into your tissues, prompting the release of harmful toxins. This, in turn, stimulates the lymphatic system, clears blood vessels, and promotes skin stretching and activation.

What does this therapy involve?

During a Cupping massage, a cup made of plastic and/or glass is inverted over a specific area. This creates a vacuum as it adheres to the skin, causing the skin to be gently lifted on the inside of the cup. This lifting action is believed to promote the opening of skin pores, facilitating increased blood circulation, the breakdown of blockages, and a pathway for the elimination of toxins from the body.
The duration of cup placement typically ranges from 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the specific condition being treated. In some cases, multiple cups may be simultaneously applied to various areas of the patient’s body. Additionally, certain practitioners may choose to apply small quantities of medicated or herbal oils to the skin just before the cupping procedure. This allows them to glide the cups along specific acupoints or meridians after the cups have been affixed.

Session Duration

Our therapy sessions are typically one hour long. During your initial session, we will conduct a comprehensive consultation to understand your primary concerns and assess your complete medical history. Based on this information, your practitioner will formulate a customized therapy plan tailored to your specific needs. Any information about medications or supplements you’re currently using, as well as recent test results, would be valuable to us at this stage. Following the consultation, there will be a brief treatment session.

Number of Sessions

The frequency of sessions depends on the seriousness of your symptoms and the characteristics of your condition. During your initial consultation, we will determine a suitable timetable that aligns with your specific requirements. Typically, clients are scheduled for sessions approximately once or twice a week during the initial four weeks.

Does it Hurt?

Although cupping is generally regarded as safe, it can result in skin swelling and discoloration. Typically, this discoloration is painless, but in certain instances, it may feel tender and persist for up to a week before gradually fading away.

Attire and Pre-treatment Recommendations

For your therapy or treatment sessions, it’s advisable to don loose-fitting clothing or we would normally advise to bring.

What to Bring

No need to worry about anything else – just bring yourself, and we’ll take care of the rest!

Post-Session Sensations

We anticipate that you will experience a deep sense of calm and relaxation. It’s perfectly normal to observe a slight degree of swelling and bruising in the treated area, which typically subsides within a few days.
